Terraced garden

The designer, who had been asked to create an outside space for relaxing and entertaining, specified a number of detailed paved areas leading to less formal lawns surrounded by shrubs and herbaceous borders.

We constructed a series of linked terraces featuring precise patterns of brickwork and random rectangular paving stones. These form a series of steps, around which we planted different levels of box hedging. Further from the house we were required to achieve more naturalistic planting as the garden led to an old bluebell wood. We also installed a number of sculptural features, such as large pots, decorative stones and an ornamental sundial.
